Gennell’s Quilt

Gennell Neel has been a loyal customer of ours for some years and has become a wonderful friend. Recently she brought me a quilt top that her mother pieced. She wanted it made larger, quilted and bound but she didn’t want to do it… Gennell is a truly talented seamstress and quilt maker in her own right who has made so many quilts for others but she wanted this quilt for herself and she really wanted it as if her mother had lived to finish it for her instead of doing it herself. I was honored that she asked me to finish and quilt it for her. I added the blue and gold strips to frame the beautiful work her mother had done then bordered it with a complimenting floral print. Inside I used our Hobbs Heirloom batting, the back is our “Willowy Flowers” overtone quilt backing. I quilted it in the Asian Fan design then made the binding from the same deep blue that I used in the frame. It was a pleasure doing this for her and I hope she enjoys it and thinks of her mother’s love every time she looks at it. 🙂
