My sister, Iris Tye Melvin made this motorcycle quilt in Harley-Davidson colors for our nephew, Jamie Maphis from T-shirts he has collected from motorcycle rallies and Harley dealers around the country. It also includes some traditional quilt blocks and squares by women who have quilted in our family. It’s filled with our Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting and backed with Quilters Blenders Blue Atoll 108” quilt backing from our shop. I quilted it in Flames and Motorcycles with lime green thread. Gorgeous job sister!
Beverly Pritchard asked me to make a quilt with her Daddy’s ties and shirts as a gift for her mom. I was happy to make it for her. In addition to the ties on the shirts it is bordered on two sides with tie “piano keys.” It is filled with our soft Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting and backed with one of our many Tonal Vineyard quilt backings. I quilted it in Diamonds. Tie quilts are a great way to save the ties and shirts of a loved one and preserve precious memories!
Judy Bentley pieced this special quilt as a gift for a friend who is a Navy Veteran. She used a navy blue and gray theme and appliqued the classic anchor on top. The back is made from a colorful license plate print. I quilted it in “Eddies” with the Navy Seal in the eye of the anchor. A wonderful present and tribute!

My Aunt, Ruth Barber made this wonderful quilt for her great-nephew, Tullis Tye. It is a nine patch variation that creates an eye catching pattern of diamonds. I quilted it in a twine design and it’s backed with our Blue Marbleicious quilt backing. It also has our Hobbs Heirloom batting inside which is just the right weight for a quilt you’re going to use. She did a great job with this quilt and Tullis is lucky to have her for a great aunt! 🙂
Ronnie Truett, who happens to be my nephew asked me to make a throw sized military quilt honoring his wife, Kim’s service in the United States Navy as a Christmas present for her. With some help from Ronnie and a little research we were able to piece together her rate & rating insignia. We also added the seals of the Navy and her command. The quilt is stripped together with a Navy themed print then bordered in navy blue and gold. It is backed with our 108” Navy Blue Quilters Blenders quilt backing and filled with Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting from our shop. I quilted it in “Stars & Stripes.” Ronnie, it was pleasure making it for you and Kim we thank you for your service and hope you enjoy your throw! 🙂
Melissa Gilley made this wonderful throw for her father-in-law, Charles Gilley (Chucks’s Dad) for his Christmas present! Mr. Gilley has been farming since 1960 and loves his Ford tractors. Melissa found the Ford print, Chuck took the pictures and the project was on! The barns and corn are appliquéd on solid black which really makes them pop. We transferred the photos to cotton for her. The backing is made from two different soft flannels from our shop. I quilted it in a Diamonds design which reminds me of fields viewed from above and made the binding in Ford blue!
