Camellias & Diamonds Quilt!

Camellias and Diamonds Quilt

My sister-in-law, Marilyn Maphis asked me to make a queen size quilt from these puffed Camellia prints which were given to her and my brother, Randolph by a dear friend of theirs. Randolph is a longtime member of the Tallahassee Camellia Society. The prints were individually layered with batting and sewn around to create the puffed effect. When I looked at them, the shape of each print seemed perfect for a diamond, so that’s how I designed the quilt. Each diamond is bordered in a hunter green blended print from our shop interspersed with triangles of pink, green and yellow. The hunter green & pink border frame and compliment the colors of the blooms. Our soft and stable Hobbs Heirloom batting is used inside the quilt sandwich. The same hunter green blended print was used for the backing and binding. I quilted around each flower and quilted additional blooms in the triangles and border. Hopefully the quilt does justice to these beautiful flowers!
