Poca Mae and Dan Hatcher asked us to make a quilt as a Christmas gift for their son who is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the medical themed ties he wore to medical school. So, we did! My sister, Iris Tye Melvin helped me piece the quilt and Georgiana Hand did the embroidery. We used garnet & gold for the base colors and appliquéd the ties on the gold blocks. It is sashed in black for contrast and backed with our 108” wide Marblecious Brown quilt backing. I quilted it in in a medical design and put a black binding on it. The perfect way to preserve Doctor Hatcher’s tie collection!
Austin McClamma made this beautiful king size quilt for his grandmother, Danylu McClamma! It is truly a work of art. The quilt features multicolored applique hummingbirds along with trumpet vine flowers & leaves. The blue hummingbird incorporates fabric from his grandfather’s ties. They are surrounded by batiks, vivid flowers and more hummingbirds. He then bordered the quilt in black which really makes all the colors pop! It’s backed and bound with our Pink Tonal Scroll and filled with soft Hobbs Heirloom batting from our shop for a wonderful feel. I quilted the outlines of the applique hummingbirds and their feathers, the balance is quilted in Hummingbirds & Trumpet Vines. An exquisite quilt Austin!
Rose Mary Swilley made this fantastic T-Shirt quilt for her husband from his high school Baseball and Basketball jerseys. She did an excellent job putting it together with a black drop shadow effect for the individual shirts. It’s a wonderful way to preserve treasured shirts and keep those memories alive! I stipple quilted it in purple in keeping with the school colors and bound it in black to frame the shirts.
Betty George made this stunning black and white quilt in a diamonds pattern. It’s backed with our Flowy Gray 108” quilt backing and filled with Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting from our shop. I quilted it in the “Fancy 3” design in lime green and made the binding from the same material as it is backed with. This is a gorgeous quilt Betty! 🙂
I made this queen size quilt for my husband, Page who likes the pattern and wanted a “really warm” quilt for winter. It is the 3 “Dudes” pattern made from 2 ½” strips. I bordered it with piano keys, then backed and bound it with our Quilters Blenders Blue Atoll 108” quilt backing. It’s quilted in the Diamonds design. I used a medium high loft poly-fill batting and….. it’s really warm! So warm that he only wants to sleep under it on the coldest nights! Of course we don’t have too many of those in Florida but he loves looking at it anyway. 🙂
