Our Spring Quilt Show on March 11th was a success! Our thanks to our wonderful quilters who brought their beautiful quilts to display. It was a gorgeous day and I think everyone enjoyed seeing the quilts and meeting fellow quilters. We would like to extend a special thanks to Jeanne Brown, Austin McClamma, Aubrey Tye and Laverne McKenzie for bringing their quilts and helping out. Also exhibited were quilts by Lynda and Iris’s mom, Fannie Maphis and aunt Ruth Barber.
This Saturday is a big day at Lady Bird Quilt! The shop is overflowing with bright, colorful cotton fabric in prints and solids at super prices… Plus we’re having our Spring Quilt Show from 2 to 4! Don’t miss this great opportunity to meet other quilters and see their work. This is strictly a “Show & Tell” event, no judging will take place and no ribbons will be awarded. Bring a quilt or two, grab a snack, socialize with your fellow quilters and check out all the great quilts!
We offer professional longarm quilting services to finish your quilt top in the most beautiful way possible. Ronnie Truett, who happens to be my nephew asked me to make a throw sized military quilt honoring his wife, Kim’s service in the United States Navy as a Christmas present for her. With some help from Ronnie and a little research we were able to piece together her rate & rating insignia. We also added the seals of the Navy and her command. The quilt is stripped together with a Navy themed print then bordered in navy blue and gold. It is backed with our 108” Navy Blue Quilters Blenders quilt backing and filled with Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting from our shop. I quilted it in “Stars & Stripes.” Ronnie, it was pleasure making it for you and Kim we thank you for your service and hope you enjoy your throw! 🙂
Melissa Gilley made this wonderful throw for her father-in-law, Charles Gilley (Chucks’s Dad) for his Christmas present! Mr. Gilley has been farming since 1960 and loves his Ford tractors. Melissa found the Ford print, Chuck took the pictures and the project was on! The barns and corn are appliquéd on solid black which really makes them pop. We transferred the photos to cotton for her. The backing is made from two different soft flannels from our shop. I quilted it in a Diamonds design which reminds me of fields viewed from above and made the binding in Ford blue!
