Connie Melzer asked us to make this quilt as a gift for a special friend of theirs. She provided the panel and picked out the colors. Iris and I pieced the top and surrounded the ducks with split rail fence patchwork. All of the fabric except the panel is fabric we carry at Lady Bird Quilts. It is backed in Tilt A Whirl Brown and I quilted it in a loose stipple design.

I made this Football quilt for Becky Simpson and her husband as a present for their young grandson! They selected the different fabrics used in the quilt. It features a gridiron panel surrounded by football squares stripped with Red, White and Blue. I quilted it in football players and footballs. It is backed with plush football fleece and uses our soft Hobbs Heirloom batting to stay snug!
Congratulations to Aubrey Tye on winning 1st Place in Quilting at the State Junior Beta Club Convention in Orlando. We are so proud of the great job Aubrey did on this dazzling quilt! It is an original pattern that captures the colorful spirit of Mardi Gras. The quilt features Mardi Gras fabric from her cousin Jackie Graff who lives in New Orleans. Aubrey’s grandmother, Iris Tye Melvin has been teaching her to sew and she has learned a lot! It is quilted in Mardi Gras Masks and Feathers. The backing is our Quilters Blenders Blue Atoll. Way to Go Aubrey!!
Lady Bird Quilts made this King size quilt for Janet Dudley from Little Bo Peep squares. They were hand embroidered and hand appliquéd by the aunt of her husband, Bob Dudley about 75 years ago when she was a teenager. Bob’s sister, Melodye Jones had saved and kept them over the years. Janet and Melodye picked out the colors and designed the entire quilt. All of the fabric (except the squares) came from our shop. It is backed in our White on Natural Antique Rose quilt backing with Hobbs Heirloom batting inside. I quilted it in the Ribbon Hearts design. It is wonderful to be able to help preserve the handwork of Bob and Melodye’s aunt and it stay in their family to be enjoyed for many years to come!
This charming Christmas Quilt was made by Ann Owens. It features a poinsettia print trimmed with the colors of Christmas in a delightful stepped pattern. Inside the quilt is our soft Hobbs Heirloom batting and I quilted it in Christmas Ornaments. A Christmas Quilt for the Holidays, what better gift to warm your heart and soul?
