Dolls From Around The World Quilt

Share

Pat Hammitt’s mother-in-law hand embroidered and painted these beautiful squares with adorable dolls from around the world then stripped them together with pink fabric.  I added a border of Tonal Vineyard Yellow and used Tonal Scroll Wine to make the back and binding for Pat & Mike.  The squares are quilted in scroll and twine designs with leaves running thru the sashing.  I just love the colors she used in her embroidery!  🙂

Lisa’s Family Quilt

Share

I made this quilt for my oldest daughter, Lisa in 2014.  It is a quilt of love with squares made by her great-grandmother, Audrey Maphis, her grandmother Fannie Maphis, her great-aunt, Ruth Barber, her Aunt, Iris Tye Melvin, her daughter, Alisa Humphrey and me.  Their names are embroidered on their squares.  The quilt is stripped and backed with fabric from our shop.  I quilted it in the Hearts & Hands design with a mother’s love!  🙂

Quilt for A Love Story

Jeanne Brown made this beautiful Signature Wedding Quilt for her niece and her husband, a true love story.  It has been signed by their friends and family, even their dogs! 🙂  I quilted it for her in the Ribbon Hearts design in gold thread.  A tribute to a wonderful love story, a long time in waiting.

Parasol Lady Quilt

Share

Patty Ray asked me to make a quilt from these “Parasol Lady” blocks which she and her mother-in-law embroidered by hand.  I stripped it together with Quilter’s Blenders Purple from our shop and quilted it tracing around the dolls and filling in with a twine design.  It’s quilted in ecru thread on top and purple on the bottom.  The quilt is filled with our Hobbs Heirloom batting for a soft and natural feel.  I also embroidered the label and did the binding.  The beautiful handwork by Patty and her mother-in-law certainly makes for a beautiful gift for a lucky granddaughter!

Black, Blue & Gray Embroidery Quilt

Don’t ever think that a man can’t create a spectacular quilt.  Mike Johns embroidered these amazing designs and then put this quilt top together with his serger!  I quilted around the designs and blocks then added twine with a swirling border.  We used our black Hobbs 80/20 batting and it is backed with Quilters Blenders Black 108” quilt backing.  Mike is a very talented designer and he creates many beautiful original machine embroidery designs!

Antique Cars Quilt

Share

The quilt isn’t antique but the cars are! The cars were hand embroidered by Pat Hammitt’s mother-in-law (Mike’s mother) and Pat asked us to make a quilt out of them, so we did.  My sister, Iris and I designed and pieced it using fabrics we carry in the shop, with some help from my daughter, Leigh who sewed many of the piano keys together.  I quilted it in “Flights of Fancy.”  It’s backed with our 108” Turquoise Tilt-A-Whirl quilt backing with premium Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting inside.  Makes you want to go for a ride!

Sun Bonnets Quilt

This charming quilt featuring Sunbonnet Sue with different bonnets and dresses was made by Pat Hammitt’s mother-in-law (Mike’s mom).  The different Sunbonnet Sue figures are appliquéd with different stitches.  She also hand embroidered the bonnets, sleeves and shoes. I quilted it in “Flights of Fancy.”  It is backed with Curls Swirls Sky Blue quilt backing and filled with Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting from our shop.
