Stacey Strickland and his wife asked me to make a T-Shirt Quilt for their son, Conner as a Christmas gift at the same time they ordered one for their daughter, Lauren. It’s made of his baseball jerseys and t-shirts plus to make it extra special it also includes some from his dad and sister. This queen size quilt is put together with purple and gold cotton fabric from our shop and backed with our 108” Quilters Blenders Yellow Gold quilt backing. It’s filled with our Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting which is warm without being too heavy. My sister, Iris Tye Melvin did the machine embroidery of Conner’s name and date of birth. I quilted it in an Aztec design. A great way to preserve wonderful family memories!
Poca Mae and Dan Hatcher asked us to make a quilt as a Christmas gift for their son who is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the medical themed ties he wore to medical school. So, we did! My sister, Iris Tye Melvin helped me piece the quilt and Georgiana Hand did the embroidery. We used garnet & gold for the base colors and appliquéd the ties on the gold blocks. It is sashed in black for contrast and backed with our 108” wide Marblecious Brown quilt backing. I quilted it in in a medical design and put a black binding on it. The perfect way to preserve Doctor Hatcher’s tie collection!
Ronnie Truett, who happens to be my nephew asked me to make a throw sized military quilt honoring his wife, Kim’s service in the United States Navy as a Christmas present for her. With some help from Ronnie and a little research we were able to piece together her rate & rating insignia. We also added the seals of the Navy and her command. The quilt is stripped together with a Navy themed print then bordered in navy blue and gold. It is backed with our 108” Navy Blue Quilters Blenders quilt backing and filled with Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting from our shop. I quilted it in “Stars & Stripes.” Ronnie, it was pleasure making it for you and Kim we thank you for your service and hope you enjoy your throw! 🙂
Melissa Gilley made this wonderful throw for her father-in-law, Charles Gilley (Chucks’s Dad) for his Christmas present! Mr. Gilley has been farming since 1960 and loves his Ford tractors. Melissa found the Ford print, Chuck took the pictures and the project was on! The barns and corn are appliquéd on solid black which really makes them pop. We transferred the photos to cotton for her. The backing is made from two different soft flannels from our shop. I quilted it in a Diamonds design which reminds me of fields viewed from above and made the binding in Ford blue!
This beautiful memory quilt was made by Austin McClamma as a very special Christmas gift for his mom, Paula McClamma. It includes family pictures, wedding invitations and dates of birth and death. On the quilt he appliquéd his brother Dustin’s initial and birth date along with his own plus many exquisite patterns. It was a delight and privilege to quilt it for him in “Flights of Fancy,” then do the binding. The Lilac Tonal Vineyard quilt backing and Hobbs Heirloom batting used in this quilt are from from our shop. Austin, your work is fabulous and you truly did a wonderful job with this quilt! 🙂
From our family to yours, Lady Bird Quilts wishes all of our friends and customers a truly Merry Christmas! We look forward to seeing and creating with you after the Holidays. Enjoy the blessings of the season, family and friends! 🙂
