James Mills brought me this quilt that his Grandmother made many years ago and asked me to restore it. I was able to save 10 complete blocks, which was as much of the original quilt as possible and made new ones from fabric I was able to recover from damaged squares and complimentary prints. The new back that James chose is made from our Black Overtone Willowy Flowers 108” quilt backing. The quilt is filled with soft Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting. I quilted it in an Aztec design. James was giving the quilt to his brother as a birthday present so he would have something special their Grandma made! 🙂
I made this quilt for my oldest daughter, Lisa in 2014. It is a quilt of love with squares made by her great-grandmother, Audrey Maphis, her grandmother Fannie Maphis, her great-aunt, Ruth Barber, her Aunt, Iris Tye Melvin, her daughter, Alisa Humphrey and me. Their names are embroidered on their squares. The quilt is stripped and backed with fabric from our shop. I quilted it in the Hearts & Hands design with a mother’s love! 🙂
Patty Ray asked me to make a quilt from these “Parasol Lady” blocks which she and her mother-in-law embroidered by hand. I stripped it together with Quilter’s Blenders Purple from our shop and quilted it tracing around the dolls and filling in with a twine design. It’s quilted in ecru thread on top and purple on the bottom. The quilt is filled with our Hobbs Heirloom batting for a soft and natural feel. I also embroidered the label and did the binding. The beautiful handwork by Patty and her mother-in-law certainly makes for a beautiful gift for a lucky granddaughter!
Don’t ever think that a man can’t create a spectacular quilt. Mike Johns embroidered these amazing designs and then put this quilt top together with his serger! I quilted around the designs and blocks then added twine with a swirling border. We used our black Hobbs 80/20 batting and it is backed with Quilters Blenders Black 108” quilt backing. Mike is a very talented designer and he creates many beautiful original machine embroidery designs!
Katherine Denmark made this adorable quilt for a precious bundle of joy, her grandson Brody! Calm blue water flows around the beach scene and nautical elements. The center is surrounded by an eye catching anchor print and the back is also nautically themed. I quilted it to outline and puff the boats, birds, seashore, beach umbrella and lighthouse in the center with a few shells thrown in just because it’s at the beach. The blocks are quilted in anchors, sailboat and a lighthouse framed with Feather Rope. The balance is quilted with the High Seas design. It has our soft Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting inside to keep Brody nice and warm. Katherine sewed the binding by hand and did a great job with this beautiful quilt!
