This unique family tree quilt was made by Sara Thompson as a gift for a family member. She pieced both the top and the back using a combination of quilting and appliqué techniques. The back features outlines of the children’ hands with their names. I used our premium Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting and quilted it in the Pipeline design. A beautiful quit that is sure to be treasured for generations!
Linda Neel asked my sister, Iris and I to make this cap quilt for her husband Bill as a Christmas present. She brought us all of the old caps he had saved from his years of farming and the wonderful Coca Cola printed fabric (Bill loves Coca Cola!). The remaining fabric including the corn and peanuts is from our shop. We appliquéd the cap with the Coca Cola patch. I quilted a tractor into four blocks and stipple quilted the balance. Linda did surprise Bill with his Christmas present this year! 🙂
This is a Memory Quilt made by my sister Iris Melvin to capture memories of Earl Franklin. His wife, Dorothy asked Iris to make a quilt out of several of Earl’s cowboy shirts as a present for Brian Hunt who was like a son to them. Iris also incorporated pictures of Earl, Dorothy and Brian along with appliqués of a couple packs of Earl’s trademark Winstons. She did not sew down the flap of the pocket Earl carried his cigarettes in so she could slip a real pack in the pocket. The back is a nice comfortable plaid. Since Earl loved his boots, fishing and Brian, I quilted it in Cowboy Boots, Fish and Teardrops. Gone but always remembered…
This quilt was designed by Jeffery Tye. His grandmother (my sister) Iris Tye Melvin and I pieced it together. It features appliqué seagulls and anchor which was monogrammed with his initials by Tonya Pilcher Banks of SweeT T’s Embroidery & Boutique. You’ve got the sun, sky, sand and water all right here! Jeffery and I quilted it together with waves, seashells and clouds. It makes you want to go to the beach! 🙂
Sonya Wiley bought this quilt top as an antique and brought it to me to quilt. The top features Irises of lavender and violet appliquéd onto ivory and dutch white cotton fabric. After a considerable search we located some lavender material that compliments it perfectly for the backing. I did the binding with the same fabric. It is closely stipple quilted with our premium Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting inside. You have a beautiful quilt Sonya!
Girls like the Power Rangers too! I made this one for my granddaughter Alisa Danielle Humphrey who loved the Power Rangers every bit as much as her brother when they were kids. The appliqués are from fabric bought and stashed away by their great-grandmother who knew they both loved the Power Rangers. The Rangers are appliquéd on 10 1/2 inch squares. It is backed with our Quilters Blenders Light Pink 108” quilt backing and the batting is Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom. I quilted it it in Ribbon Hearts for her. 🙂
Denise Williams asked me to quilt this delightful quilt top that came into her shop. I don’t know who made it originally but it is a work of art! It’s all hand stitched appliqué and hand embroidery. Beautiful work with a fun design. I quilted it with various patterns including butterflies, flowers and acorns & leaves. The backing is our 108” Quilters Blenders Blue Atoll material. Thanks for letting me quilt this, Denise!
