Lauren’s T-Shirt Quilt!

Share

Stacey Strickland and his wife asked me to make a T-Shirt Quilt for their daughter, Lauren as a Christmas present. It includes her T-shirts along with some of her dad’s plus a handkerchief and doilies of her grandmother. I put it together with lime green fabric in solid and chevrons. Georgiana Hand did the machine embroidery. It is filled with our Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 Batting for just the right weight and feel. I backed it with our 108” Softie Lime Green Quilt Backing and quilted it in Square Spirals. A great tribute to Lauren’s many interests and her family!

Spring 2017 Quilt Show

Share

Our Spring Quilt Show on March 11th was a success!  Our thanks to our wonderful quilters who brought their beautiful quilts to display. It was a gorgeous day and I think everyone enjoyed seeing the quilts and meeting fellow quilters.   We would like to extend a special thanks to Jeanne Brown, Austin McClamma, Aubrey Tye and Laverne McKenzie for bringing their quilts and helping out.  Also exhibited were quilts by Lynda and Iris’s mom, Fannie Maphis and aunt Ruth Barber.

Charles Gilley’s Ford Tractor Quilt

Share

Melissa Gilley made this wonderful throw for her father-in-law, Charles Gilley (Chucks’s Dad) for his Christmas present!  Mr. Gilley has been farming since 1960 and loves his Ford tractors.  Melissa found the Ford print, Chuck took the pictures and the project was on!  The barns and corn are appliquéd on solid black which really makes them pop.  We transferred the photos to cotton for her.  The backing is made from two different soft flannels from our shop.  I quilted it in a Diamonds design which reminds me of fields viewed from above and made the binding in Ford blue!

Paula’s Memory Quilt

Share

This beautiful memory quilt was made by Austin McClamma as a very special Christmas gift for his mom, Paula McClamma.  It includes family pictures, wedding invitations and dates of birth and death.  On the quilt he appliquéd his brother Dustin’s initial and birth date along with his own plus many exquisite patterns.  It was a delight and privilege to quilt it for him in “Flights of Fancy,” then do the binding.  The Lilac Tonal Vineyard quilt backing and Hobbs Heirloom batting used in this quilt are from from our shop.  Austin, your work is fabulous and you truly did a wonderful job with this quilt!  🙂
